Personal Statement
What I like the most from the academic setting, is having the opportunity to teach residents, medical students, nurses, even patients and their families. This is something that I am very passionate about and truly enjoy, especially because at the same time, I also learn from my students, colleagues, and the entire healthcare team. Actually I have to say that the most important lessons that I have learned in the practice of medicine, have been taught to me by my patients, after all, they are the best teachers a physician can have.
Clinical Interests:
I work as a Pediatric Hospitalist. I like the inpatient setting, because the patients have a higher acuity of care which I find more interesting and challenging. I also like the variety of taking care of patients with all sort of conditions.
As an immigrant, I am very touched by the health problems that affect different parts of the world. I love working in a place like Baylor/TCH that is so involved in Global Health, and to get the chance to practice medicine that has the potential to reach people in places beyond the hospital.
Research Interests:
I am currently involved in educational projects, specifically teaching EBM (Evidence based medicine) to medical students and developing a simulation curriculum for the residents in the acute care setting.
I am also working in research of Infants with UTIs (Urinary Tract Infections).
