Dr. Ivan Chinn’s research recognized by international disease association
Dr. Ivan Kingyue Chinn, a physician-scientist and director of the Immunogenetics Program at Texas Children’s Hospital, and assistant professor in the Pediatric Immunology, Allergy and Retrovirology section at Baylor College of Medicine, was honored by the Associazione Italiana Linfoistiocitosi Emofagocitica. This Italian nonprofit organization supports the families of children affected by hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), a group of immune disorders that affect 1 in 50,000 children each year.
The organization named Chinn as one of the winners of the first “Mario Ricciardi Award” for the Best Scientific Article published from 2018 to 2019 on HLH, life-threatening disorders caused by uncontrolled activation or proliferation of the immune system. The award is a token of appreciation for Chinn’s significant contribution to the advancement of knowledge about this disease, which is essential for finding potential treatments and hope for possible recovery for these patients and their families.
