The Psychologists in the Community Program offers behavioral health assessment, consultation, and brief interventions for children and adolescents within community-based primary care clinics. This innovative program recognizes the need for increasing access to behavioral and mental health services and aims to serve those presenting a broad range of socio-emotional, learning, and behavioral health needs.

While many of our patients present with specific mental health concerns, many are simply seeking screening and feedback in order to promote better health behaviors and prevent risks for emerging mental health issues. Within this program, our psychologists work closely with each child’s pediatrician in order to provide more comprehensive and collaborative care. Behavioral health services are provided on-site in the primary care clinic setting and consist of those that are predominantly brief in nature. Children and adolescents who present with more long-term or specialized needs are typically referred to specialized care at Texas Children’s Hospital or to community-based tertiary care providers.
