Accomplishments to date:

  • Treated 12,000 patients
  • Trained over 4,000 health care professionals
  • Seen pediatric cancer survival rates dramatically improved with 85% of patients surviving the first month
  • Screened 414,526 babies for sickle cell disease and treated 10,000 children
  • The first ever Pediatric Hematology-Oncology (PHO) Fellowship Program was established in Uganda in 2015 to build a critical mass of African pediatric hematologist-oncologists.:
    • 8 PHO fellows have graduated
    • 12 PHO fellows are in training
