Translational research takes laboratory information and “translates” it into the clinical setting. The program’s current research focuses on identifying survivors at risk for medical problems, such as heart or hormonal disturbances. A major focus of the program is also directed at early diagnosis and intervention for survivors with psychosocial and neuropsychological concerns. The ultimate purpose of ongoing research is to develop successful interventions for survivors with late complications, as well as to design future cancer therapies that are not accompanied by the risk of late adverse effects.
