Bone Marrow/Stem Cell Transplantation
Our state-of-the-art, 15-bed inpatient transplant unit is among the largest of its kind in the Southwestern United States and focuses exclusively on transplantation. The Bone Marrow Transplant Clinic performs over 100 transplants per year.

Brain Tumor
The Brain Tumor Program at Texas Children’s Cancer Center is one of the largest of its type in the country, focused on children and adolescents. We treat approximately 140 new pediatric brain tumor patients each year from all over the world, many of whom cannot be treated anywhere else.

The Cancer Genetics & Genomics Program provides the following clinical services to patients and their families:

Cancer Genetics Clinic
The Cancer Genetics Clinic provides clinical evaluations, risk assessment, genetic counseling, recommendations for appropriate genetic testing, education, recommendations for screening for cancer risk. Our clinic is led by an internationally recognized medical geneticist, Sharon Plon, MD, PhD, who works closely with a team of genetic counselors.

Cancer Prevention and Screening Clinic
The Prevention and Screening serves children and young adults who are found to be at increased risk of developing childhood cancer. The clinic offers ongoing cancer screening and management strategies to these high risk patients. Our approach is intended to aid in early detection of cancers. Our clinic is led by a pediatric oncologist, Surya Rednam, MD, who specializes in cancer prevention.

Precision Oncology Consultation Service
The Precision Oncology Consultation Service utilizes the latest genetic and molecular techniques to better identify tumor-specific genetic changes that may provide treatment options, particularly for patients with otherwise limited treatment options. The consultation service may include guidance toward appropriate clinical trial enrollment with experimental therapeutic agents or potential use of existing treatments.

Developmental Therapeutics Phase I Clinic
The Developmental Therapeutics Program focuses on the development of new agents, and we work closely with the Precision Oncology Consultation Service to identify personalized therapies for children with cancer.

Histiocytosis
As the largest histiocytosis treatment program in the world, the Histiocytosis Program at Texas Children’s Cancer Center treats more than 150 new patients each year. Patients benefit from the combined talents and expertise of some of the top specialists in the world, giving every child or teen patient the best quality of care and chance of survival for their histiocytosis.

Leukemia
As one of the largest and most comprehensive pediatric leukemia treatment clinics in the country, we provide diagnosis, evaluation and ongoing management to over 500 pediatric patients with suspected or diagnosed acute lymphoblastic leukemia, acute myeloid leukemia and chronic leukemias each year. The Leukemia Program offers individualized therapies for every type and phase of leukemia seen in infants, children, adolescents and young adults.

The Long Term Survivor Program, which currently follows approximately 1,500 long-term survivors, monitors patients for delayed side effects and complications caused by previous cancer therapies.

Solid Tumor
The Solid Tumor Programs provide cutting-edge clinical care for children with tumors of the bone, soft tissue, kidney, liver and other organs. We treat patients with a wide variety of solid tumors and cancers including ewing sarcoma, germ cell tumor, liver tumor, kidney tumor, melanoma, neuroblastoma, bone tumor, rhabdomyosarcoma and thyroid cancer.

Surgical Oncology
The Surgical Oncology Program at Texas Children’s Hospital provides highly specialized surgical treatment for children with a cancer diagnosis. The surgeons in this program come from a variety of surgical disciplines and are experienced in the surgical treatment of all types of pediatric cancers – from the most common to the extremely rare. They also provide surgical treatment for solid tumors affecting all age groups from infants to young adults.
