The Baylor College of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, Section of Hematology-Oncology hires pediatric hematologists-oncologists and advanced practice providers to work in a variety of settings at their locations in Texas. Potential candidates are expected to have excellent clinical, communication and time management skills. Clinicians will receive in-depth training as required to provide excellent care to a diverse population of patients with unusual presentations. Since 2007, Texas Children’s Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine have invested in significant efforts to develop pediatric hematology/oncology programs in several sub-Saharan African countries including Botswana, Malawi and Uganda through the Global Hematology/Oncology Pediatric Excellence (HOPE) program. Over the last few years, we’ve established partnerships to offer potentially curative therapies to patients with a variety of cancer diagnoses and to develop a multidisciplinary care model of excellence for children with cancer and blood disorders in these countries. The Texas Children’s Cancer and Hematology Centers Global HOPE program recruits pediatric hematologist/oncologists who may be assigned full-time in sub-Sahara Africa to provide care to children and train future local health care leaders in the field of pediatric hematology/oncology. This includes inpatient and outpatient pediatric hematology/oncology patient care in tertiary public care centers, and education and pediatric hematology-oncology training of local health care professionals.
