We definitely live in a high-tech world these days. This is obvious when pregnant women ask if they need to buy a pump when they breastfeed their baby. I usually respond that your baby is the best pump that you will have! He/she will stimulate your body to produce just the right amount of milk to meet his/her needs. By pumping in addition to breastfeeding soon after delivery you have the potential to create a much higher milk volume than your baby needs.
In December 2010, the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases published guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of food allergies. This report was developed by a 25-member expert panel to help health care professionals provide better care for patients with food allergy. It is important that patients work with their physicians to accurately diagnose and treat their food allergies according to these guidelines.
