In 2016 Texas Children’s recognized as 4th best pediatric hospital in U.S.
At Texas Children’s we are excited to again rank fourth among approximately 180 pediatric institutions surveyed by U.S. News & World Report in their 2016-17 edition of Best Children’s Hospitals. In the last 10 years, no other pediatric hospital in the state has ever achieved an overall ranking as high as Texas Children’s.
Each year, children’s hospitals across the country submit data to U.S. News as part of this survey. The resulting rankings are derived from a weighted combination of outcome and care-related measures such as nursing care, advanced technology and specialized expertise, among other factors.
What does this mean for the children and families we serve? We believe these rankings are a great starting point for families who are trying to determine where to take their child for the care and treatments they need. While no survey or ranking should be the only determining factor of where your child is treated, we encourage families to leverage the data and work that U.S. News has put into their rankings when considering potential hospitals.
At Texas Children’s the care and treatment we provide our patients and families is our top priority and we work hard every day to consistently improve. By closely tracking this data, not only are we able to prove we are one of the best pediatric hospitals in the nation for children who need highly-specialized care, but we also are able to identify ways to be even better for you and your family.
In addition to ranking children’s hospitals overall, U.S. News also ranks the top 50 pediatric hospitals across 10 major subspecialties. This year, Texas Children’s ranks as the best pulmonology department in the country and we have six subspecialties ranked in the top five, three of which rank second nationally.
Here’s a closer look at how we rank:
- #1 Pulmonology
- #2 Cancer
- #2 Cardiology and heart surgery
- #2 Neurology and neurosurgery
- #3 Nephrology (kidney disorders)
- #5 Urology
- #6 Gastroenterology and GI surgery
