U.S. News & World Report released its annual list of Best Children’s Hospitals today, and I’m excited to share the results. This year, Texas Children’s Hospital ranks once again as the #4 best children’s hospital in the nation! And just like last year, we’re #1 in Houston, we’re #1 in Texas, and we’re #1 in the central and southwest U.S. This is a tremendous achievement and a tribute to our physicians and staff for their ardent dedication to excellence in patient care.

What’s even more important about this designation is that it validates our commitment to the health and well-being of every single child and family who visits our hospital.

Here’s how we, along with our academic partner Baylor College of Medicine, fared in this year’s comprehensive U.S. News survey:

I am particularly pleased that we have 3 subspecialties ranked among the top 3 nationally, an outstanding jump from last year’s rankings. And coming in at #2 in neonatology is just superb — particularly as we expand our NICU services to the new Pavilion for Women. Having 7 subspecialties ranked in the top 5 nationally is also a wonderful accomplishment; I’m already looking forward to making more progress in 2013!

And as always, a special thank you to all of our Texas Children’s families and supporters. We are honored to serve a community of children locally, nationally and internationally.
