Center For Vaccine Awareness And Research Delivers Holiday Cheer
As moms celebrated the recent delivery of their new bundle of joy, the Center for Vaccine Awareness and Research at Texas Children's Hospital delivered some unexpected holiday cheer along with the gift of vaccination through the "cocoon strategy" vaccination program.
After family members received Tdap vaccine to protect themselves and their newborn infant from whooping cough, Dr. Carol Baker, executive director of the center, Betsy Mayes, a nurse with the program, and I delivered donated Christmas gifts to siblings and other visiting family members.
We recently celebrated the 15,000th immunization as part of the nation's only major cocoon strategy vaccination program, which began two years ago.
Special thanks to everybody who donated gifts, including our doctors, fellows, nurses, and staff — along with students from Spring Woods Methodist School.
