Texas Children’s Pavilion for Women Opens Maternal-Fetal Medicine Clinic in Growing Clear Lake region

HOUSTON, TX (November 17, 2021)  – Texas Children’s Pavilion for Women® is proud to announce a new community clinic location in the Clear Lake region, bringing top tier women’s health care closer to patients who live in the Bay Area.

The maternal-fetal medicine clinic will serve as a convenient location for patients to receive a full array of care, including ultrasounds, antenatal testing, genetics counseling and diabetes management. The new location will also allow area providers access to consultations for common and high-risk conditions, such as placenta accreta spectrum, and referrals for fetal intervention.

Located at 920 Clear Lake City Boulevard, right next to Texas Children’s Specialty Care Clear Lake, the new facility is the eighth community maternal-fetal medicine clinic opened by the Pavilion for Women and the first at Texas Children’s to offer women’s services in the Clear Lake area.

“We’re excited to serve community members in Clear Lake, Webster, League City, Baytown and even Pearland who may not be able to drive to the Texas Medical Center for all their appointments,” said Dr. Karin Fox, a maternal-fetal medicine specialist with Texas Children’s Pavilion for Women. “We know the greater Houston metro area is growing, especially in the Clear Lake region, and we want to bring the high-quality care patients are used to receiving from the Pavilion for Women a little closer to home, as a partner with their provider."

For Dr. Sara Jacobs, a maternal-fetal medicine specialist who serves patients at the new location alongside Dr. Fox, the clinic is a way for her to give back to the community where she grew up.

“I always wanted to be a doctor in the community, so being able to see patients in the community that shaped me is very meaningful to me,” said Dr. Jacobs. “It’s incredible that Texas Children’s is making it possible for mothers and their babies who live outside the Texas Medical Center to receive such high-level care so close to home.”

“We are known across the globe for how our maternal-fetal medicine physicians at Texas Children’s Fetal Center® expertly handle high-risk pregnancies, and we are proud to provide such specialized care to mothers and babies in the Clear Lake region,” said Dr. Michael Belfort, OB/GYN-in-Chief at Texas Children’s Pavilion for Women and professor and chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine. “This new community clinic allows a seamless connection to our Fetal Center – one of the nation's leaders in the diagnosis and treatment of abnormalities in unborn and newborn infants – and our Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Providing such specialized care in the community allows us to deliver on our mission to offer the best care to every woman and child, from the healthiest to the sickest.”
