Dr. Daniel J. Penny, Renowned Pediatric Cardiologist, Named Chief of Cardiology at Texas Children's Hospital, Leader of Pediatric Cardiology at Baylor College of Medicine
HOUSTON - (Sept. 20, 2010) - Daniel J. Penny, M.D., Ph.D, aninternationally recognized leader in pediatric cardiology from The RoyalChildren's Hospital in Melbourne, Australia, has been named chief of Cardiologyat Texas Children's Hospital and the leader of pediatric cardiology at BaylorCollege of Medicine.
Dr. Penny will lead a team of 33 physicians representing multiple pediatriccardiology subspecialties at Texas Children's Heart Center, which is ranked #3in the nation by U.S.News World Report. At BCM, he will serve asprofessor of pediatrics and head of the Pediatric Cardiology Section.
A native of Ireland, Dr. Penny trained and practiced at top pediatricinstitutions, such as The Great Ormond Street Hospital in London and The RoyalChildren's Hospital in Melbourne, Australia, where he served as chief ofCardiology prior to accepting the chief's role at Texas Children's. Dr. Pennywas a founding director of the Australia and New Zealand Children's HeartResearch Centre, a collaborative network for multicenter research acrossAustralia and New Zealand. His research bridges cardiac physiology and clinicalstudies of congenital heart disease.
