Our Leukemia Program is the largest in the country and leads the nation in the development of an innovative approach to treat infants with leukemia that has improved the survival rate from 30% to 75%.

Research in the Leukemia Program spans from direction of clinical trials to basic molecular studies of leukemia biology, immunotherapy and development of novel agents, and to mitigating the late effects of treatment in long-term survivors. The Leukemia Program is dedicated to integrating laboratory and clinical research to increase our understanding of leukemia and to develop new, more effective therapies for the disease.

Our principal areas of research focus on understanding the genetic determinants of tumor biology, exploiting the interaction between the immune system and leukemia to develop novel immunotherapies, and developing new drugs designed to have greater potency and fewer side effects than traditional chemotherapy. The Texas Children's Cancer Center Leukemia Program is dedicated to integrating laboratory and clinical research to increase our understanding of leukemia and to develop new, more effective therapies for the disease.
