Watch for signs of RSV in babies and young children

During the next few months, parents are urged to watch for signs of a common lung infection that could cause lifelong health problems in their babies.

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) causes colds and lower respiratory infections and is the leading cause of pneumonia and bronchiolitis in infants.

Every year, more than 70,000 babies nationwide are hospitalized and about 500 die from RSV.

Find out if your child is at risk for this dangerous virus. Read more

Healthy tips from YMCAHealthy tips to build healthy kids
Finding fun ways to be fit during childhood helps children grow into healthy, active adults. Many kids love running. Jogging or running is one of the least expensive sports because it requires very little equipment. A good pair of running shoes, sunscreen, a safe route and plenty of fluids are all a child needs to be successful. Remember, children should run at their own pace and continue only if they have fun doing it.
