I go gold because …

Wellness

I go gold to support childhood cancer because of my daughter Eden Green! She was diagnosed with a very rare bone cancer, so rare in fact there is no name for the type of cancer she had. Eden was 10 years old when she was diagnosed in June 2015. She was in a lot of pain from the large tumor in her tibia bone. In late May of that year, she stopped walking altogether due to the pain it caused. Her father and I carried her everywhere until we were able to borrow a wheelchair from our church.

Eden was admitted to Texas Children’s Hospital for a month in order to get her started on treatment and stabilized. She was really sick, needing lots of medical attention. After 14 rounds of chemo and six weeks of radiation Monday through Friday, she was declared cancer free! Eden did not walk for 10 months straight. She also had hip surgery after treatment to repair a dead bone. Eden receives physical therapy twice a week for her arms and legs from now until she is back to full strength. She is now 12 years old and cancer FREE!
