Children’s Wellness Center
Since its founding at Texas Children’s
Hospital, the Wellness Center has offered valuable programs and
therapies for wellness and obesity prevention. But as of March 31,
2006, the Wellness Center has ceased to operate within Texas
Children’s, and its programs will move out into the Houston
community.
Most of the programs offered by the Wellness Center, with the
exception of its camps, will continue to be offered at Texas
Children’s Health Centers. By transitioning the Wellness Programs to
the Health Centers, the hospital is making these programs more
accessible to current patients as well as partnering with local
communities to share the wellness message with more families.
Wellness programs are offered at Texas Children's Health Centers
located in The Woodlands, Sugar Land and Cy Fair.
Inpatient and research functions of the Wellness Center will
continue to be provided on campus with the support the Nutrition
Support Service and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.
Wellness programs will address a variety of exercise and nutrition
services for healthy children and adolescents as well as those with
special healthcare needs.
