Didactic Course Work:
Non-Didactic teaching:
Resident training
Resident teaching (1 dermatology resident, 2 pediatric residents,
visiting residents from outside institutions) at Texas Children’s
Hospital general pediatric dermatology clinics 5 times weekly and
laser/surgery procedures 2-3 times monthly. Teaching also occurs
during hospital rounds, every third week (approximately 5-10
consults per week).
Dermatology Journal Club—faculty responsible for organization and
leading article discussion; 2 meetings per month.
Medical student training
Medical student teaching (1 medical student) at Texas Children’s
Hospital general pediatric dermatology clinics 5 times weekly, and
laser/surgery procedures 2-3 times monthly. Teaching also occurs
during hospital rounds, 2 weeks per month (approximately 5-10
consults per week).

Medical & Service Information
Patient care responsibilities:
Department-wide weekend and weeknight call for both the adult and
pediatric dermatology services, approximately 6 weeks per year.

5 general pediatric dermatology clinics per week
2-3 laser/surgery clinics per month
Inpatient and emergency room consults: Daily rounds every third week
(33 % of time), primarily at Texas Children’s Hospital
