HOUSTON – (Aug. 3, 2009) – Bob the Builder™, the loveable, hard-hat
wearing, hard-working, internationally famous children’s character
is pitching in to help Texas Children’s Hospital promote the
progress of the West Campus, its first suburban pediatric hospital,
currently under construction at Interstate-10 and Barker Cypress in
West Houston.
Starting this month, colorful ads in local
community publications and shopping mall kiosks will feature scenes
of Bob the Builder at the Texas Children’s Hospital West Campus
construction site, happily toiling beside the project’s real-life
construction crew from Tellepsen Builders.
The campaign’s purpose is to build awareness
and anticipation among area families for Texas Children’s new West
Campus, which will offer inpatient and outpatient facilities that
incorporate the best practices in pediatric treatment environments
and provide extended access to the hospital’s renowned
family-centered patient care.
Although building a 530,000 square-foot medical
complex is serious business for Texas Children’s Hospital, the idea
behind Bob the Builder’s presence in the ads is to remind families
that the new West Campus is designed, equipped and staffed
exclusively for children.
“We’re delighted to have Bob the Builder lend
his support to our project,” said Michelle Riley-Brown, assistant
vice president of Texas Children’s Hospital West Campus. “With his
can-do attitude and love of a job well done, he fits right in at
Texas Children’s Hospital.”
A favorite among preschoolers, Bob the Builder
and his fun-loving machine team promote positive thinking, teamwork,
problem-solving, follow-through and “The Fun is in Getting It Done!” The animated series is currently broadcast in over 250 countries and
in 45 languages, including PBS KIDS and PBS KIDS SproutSM
in the United States.
“Texas Children’s Hospital is building a
first-rate medical facility that will provide top quality care for a
lot of children, and Bob the Builder is delighted to be a part of
the message,” said Maria Santoro, Director, Global Brand Management,
for HIT Entertainment, one of the world’s leading independent
children’s entertainment producers and the rights-owner of Bob the
Builder.
The ads featuring Bob the Builder are scheduled
to run in West Houston-targeted media through October, 2009.
Located on 55 acres at the intersection of Interstate 10 and
Barker Cypress, Texas Children’s Hospital West Campus will provide
inpatient and outpatient services and offer the only dedicated
pediatric emergency center in greater West Houston. The medical
campus is being built in phases with the outpatient clinic building
and inpatient facility scheduled to open in
late 2010. The West Campus development is made possible in
large part through the generous support of corporations and families
in the local community who are committed to improving the health and
well-being of its children. For more information,
