- Acetaminophen Dosage (e.g. Tylenol ®) : determine by finding your child's weight in the top row of the dosage table.
- Adult dose 650 mg.
- Repeat every 4-6 hours as needed. Do not exceed 5 doses within a 24 hour period.
- Note: Acetaminophen also comes in 80, 120, 325, and 650 mg suppositories.
- Do not use under 3 months of age (reason: fever during the first 12 weeks of life needs to be documented in a medical setting and if present, your infant needs a complete evaluation).
- Do not use if patient has active liver disease.
- Acetaminophen is the preferred drug for treatment of fever and pain.
- Many people have few, if any, side effects. However, if you are taking acetaminophen and develop severe vomiting, diarrhea, or yellow eyes, contact your physician.
