Dr. Feigin’s lightning-speed intellect and physical energy put him in a class of his own. But it was his attention to the people around him and his warm personal touch that made him one of a kind. Whether walking through the hospital, smiling and greeting people, or personally interviewing each potential hospital trainee, Dr. Feigin made a connection and let people know he cared.
His passion was for his patients and cultivating bright young medical minds. Always the optimist, he managed to see the best in every person and each situation, and he encouraged others to share his view.
Dr. Feigin had an uncanny ability to look beyond the present and see the possibilities of the future. His goals were lofty, but clear, and he always reached them – usually before he said he would.
He encouraged others to share his five tenets of excellence:
- It’s the people who make a difference.
- Do what’s right for the patient. We’ll do the paperwork later.
- Be diligent.
- Live with the spirit of inquiry and innovation. Come to a discussion with the concept that we can do something better tomorrow than what we are doing today.
- Live with the spirit of generosity.
