TEXAS CHILDREN'S PHARMACY
DEPARTMENT
Our pharmacists are currently involved in a variety of activities; responsible for traditional
services (order entry, preparation, check) and also some clinical activities, including:
monitoring TPN’s, aminoglycosides, vancomycin and methotrexate to ensure safe and appropriate
medication management. Clinical pharmacy specialists round with various medical teams on a daily
basis and serve as a liaison to the respective medical services.
- Central Pharmacy
- Prepares and dispenses all medications in a four batch per day process.
- PICU Satellite
- Prepares first dose, stat dose and last minute prep items for the Main OR, PICU, and NICU.
- CVICU Satellite
- Prepares first dose, stat dose and last minute prep items for the CVOR, CVICU, Cath labs and acute care cardiology floor.
- Acute Care Satellite
- Prepares first dose, stat dose, chemotherapy and last minute prep items for all acute care floors.
- Emergency Center Pharmacy
- Services the EC, RTA, and supports after-hours outpatient dispensing.

Outpatient Pharmacy
- Provides services for patients visiting the Clinical Care Center, as well as patients being discharged from the hospital. (Limited insurances accepted.)
- Home Care Infusion Pharmacy
- Cancer Center Clinic Pharmacy
- Provides services for patients treated in the ambulatory clinic.
