Patient Guide - Clinic visit

Your child’s examination will begin with height, weight and blood pressure measurements. The medical care provider will record a history of your child’s current problem. Parents will furnish past history on the new patient history form provided. A complete physical and neurological examination will be conducted. At the conclusion of the examination, the provider will discuss the diagnosis or diagnostic possibilities with you. nurse will help with education about the diagnosis, as well as discuss tests needed and medications prescribed. Blue Bird Circle volunteers can schedule tests and provide you with a follow-up appointment, if needed.

When Additional Testing is Necessary
Your provider may request additional testing – such as an MRI, CT scan, EEG, EKG, muscle biopsy or laboratory studies – to help determine the cause of your child’s disorder. The clinic volunteers can schedule the test or provide you with contact information for the testing center to arrange appointments at your convenience.
A few guidelines to remember when scheduling appointments for testing:

  • It is important to make these appointments within a reasonable time – and to keep them. If you must cancel an appointment, call the test center directly or call the clinic as soon as possible.
  • If your insurance requires a referral for testing, please make sure the referral is processed before the appointment date.
  • Please call your provider four days after testing for the test results.
