Blue Bird Circle
Multiple Sclerosis Clinic for Pediatric Neurology

Affiliated with the national Multiple Sclerosis Society, the Blue Bird Circle Multiple Sclerosis Clinic for Pediatric Neurology specializes in the diagnosis, treatment and follow-up care of neurological disorders in children caused by demyelinating diseases of the central nervous system. These diseases, which result from autoimmune attacks against the fatty myelin insulation surrounding nerve fibers, include:

  • Optic Neuritis
  • Transverse Myelitis
  • Acute Disseminated Encephalomyelitis
  • Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
  • Neuromyelitis Optica

Our mission
The Blue Bird Circle Multiple Sclerosis Clinic's three-part mission is to:

  • Provide comprehensive, family-centered care to children suffering from MS and associated demyelinating diseases of the central nervous system
  • Provide first-class education to health care professionals
  • Research causes and possible treatments to fight the debilitating effects of these diseases

To achieve our goals, we have assembled a team of specialists that provide perspective and insight into all aspects of these diseases. Members of our team include a pediatric neurologist, a geneticist, a neuroradiologist and a neuro-opthamologist. An adult neurologist helps patients transition to adult MS care. Support personnel include a social worker, a neuropsychologist, a psychologist and a pediatric MS nurse, as well as trained volunteers from the Blue Bird Circle Clinic.

Contacting your child's health care provider at the clinic
If you notice a change in your child's neurological condition, contact your child's health care provider. When you call the clinic's main number, a trained Blue Bird Circle volunteer or clinic coordinator will take your information and notify your provider. The provider will return your phone call between patient visits or at the end of the day. Calls concerning routine health issues should be directed to your child's primary care physician.
