Children's and Baylor College of Medicine.
2002 Texas Children's Pediatric Lung Transplant Program receives
United Network of
Organ Sharing certification in July.
In October,
Shari M. becomes the first lung transplant recipient of
the program.
2003 By the end of 2003, Texas Children's Pediatric Lung Transplant Program's team
performs six bilateral lung transplants on pediatric patients, making it the second
busiest in the world.
2004 Texas Children's team performs the
first pediatric double-lung and liver transplant in the southern and
southwestern United States.
Texas Children's receives accreditation
for a heart-lung transplant program.
Dr. Okan Elidemir joins Dr. Mallory as the second transplant pulmonologist.
2005 Texas Children's pediatric lung and heart transplant teams
performs the hospital's
first
pediatric double-lung and heart transplant on a New Orleans
teen.
TCH becomes the most active pediatric lung transplant center in the world with 15 transplants.
Dr. Elidemir wins the coveted Alfrred Soffer Award at the annual Chest 2005 meeting of the American College of Chest Physicians for his outstanding research.
2006 TCH is once again the most active pediatric lung transplant program in the world with 16 transplants.
Dr. Marc G. Schecter
joins Drs. Elidemir and Mallory as transplant pulmonologist.
