Texas Children’s
Interventional Radiology (IR) Service

The Interventional Radiology (IR) section at
Texas Children’s Hospital utilizes miniature tools and state-of-the-art imaging
to conduct minimally invasive procedures for children
ranging in size from less than 1 pound to adult size.
Your child's comfort during each
procedure is our priority. When
necessary, we can provide
Child Life support, intravenous
sedation and analgesia, or arrange for general anesthesia. We
have an outpatient IR clinic where we can meet and assess the
child before and after treatment, as well as health care
professionals who are available to answer questions and provide
guidance to parents.
The most common procedures performed are PICC placement, needle biopsy
and drainage of infected fluid.
