The process of getting your child ready to go home from Texas Children’s actually starts as soon as he or she arrives at the hospital. The healthcare team will work closely with you and your child to prepare for discharge.

Discharge order
A discharge order will be written by the doctor when your child is ready to leave the hospital.

Pharmacy
Patients in the outpatient clinics, those discharged from the hospital or same-day surgery patients may use the Texas Children’s Outpatient Pharmacy on the third floor of the Clinical Care Center. The pharmacy is open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays.

Unless your insurance company has restrictions, hospital discharge and same-day surgery prescriptions may be filled by our pharmacy for a limited supply.

Our pharmacy accepts Medicaid and CIDC payment. Please be sure to have your recipient identification card with you. Please call 832-822-3050 to speak to a pharmacist if you have any questions about your child’s medication.
