Hospital makes HBJ’s list for 5 consecutive years
HOUSTON – (June 11, 2010) –
The Houston Business Journal has ranked Texas Children’s Hospital in
the top 10 of the 2010 Best Place to Work among Houston Companies
with more than 500 employees. This distinction is based solely on
employee feedback measuring a variety of job-related factors,
including employee satisfaction, teamwork and leadership trust.
“We are proud to be ranked among some of Houston’s largest companies
for the fifth consecutive year,” said
President and CEO Mark A. Wallace. “It’s a tribute to our
employees, representing every area of the organization, who continue
to show their dedication to our core mission of preeminent patient
care, education and research,” Wallace said.
Texas Children’s Hospital opened its doors in 1954 and today employs
a staff of more than 7,000. “We’ve been an anchor in the Houston
community for more than 55 years and have a long tradition of
stability,” said Wallace. “With our Vision 2010 expansion
initiatives well underway, we’re growing to meet the future needs of
our community’s children. Our amazing team of employees, physicians
and researchers come together to make this organization an inspiring
workplace,” Wallace said.
About the Survey
The Houston Business Journal opened nominations in January 2010 and
invited companies to participate. Nominees are separated into four
categories: companies with 10 to 100 employees; those with 101 to
500 employees; those with more than 500 employees and companies that
are not based in Houston but have a significant local presence.
An independent research marketing firm surveys employees at
nominated companies, asking thirty-seven questions within 10
categories: team effectiveness, retention risk, alignment with
goals, trust with co-workers, individual contribution, manager
effectiveness, trust in senior leaders, feeling valued, work
engagement and people practices. Company benefits and perks are not
weighed into the scoring process. Surveys are completed online and a
minimum number of respondents, depending on company size, is
required for final eligibility. Scores are calculated for each
company and rankings announced in each category.
