Parents' conference on congenital heart disease

HOUSTON (May 14, 2007) Texas Children's Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine will present a conference called “Living with Congenital Heart Disease” from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 9.  The event, for parents and interested family caregivers, will be held at the United Way community Resource Center, 50 Waugh Drive, Houston 77007.  The conference is for adults only and will not include childcare. Please register by June 1.  Registration will not be accepted at the door.

Cardiologists and cardiovascular surgeons from Texas Children's Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine will present practical and updated information designed to help parents understand the challenges of rearing a child with congenital heart disease.

Topics, presented in English and Spanish, will address issues such as “Congenital Heart Disease: Practical Information for Parents,” “How Genes Can Impact the Development of a Child’s Heart,” “Growing up with Congenital Heart Disease: The Older Sibling Perspective,” “Behavioral Issues in Children with Congenital Heart Disease,” and  “How to Talk to Your Child’s Teacher So They Will Listen.”
